Christmas Carols Angels we Have Heard on High Lyrics:
(French carol, ca. 1862)

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing
over the plains
And the mountains in reply,
Echoing their joyous strains.
Glo-ori-a
In excelsis de-o
Glo-ori-a
In excelsis de-o

Shepherds, why this Jubilee?
Why your joyous
strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your
heavenly song?
Glo-ori-a

In excelsis de-o
Glo-ori-a
In excelsis de-o

Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the
angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee
Christ, the Lord,
The newborn King
Glo-ori-a
In excelsis de-o
Glo-ori-a
In excelsis de-o

See Him in a manger laid
Jesus, Lord of
heaven and earth!
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,
With us sing our
Savior's birth.
Glo-ori-a
In excelsis de-o

The Favorite Singer Of All Time

Kenny Rogers is one of my favorite singer from all time. I usually listen to his songs during afternoons around 2:00pm especially when I need to concentrate while doing a programming jobs. It's easier for me to work if I could listen to some subtle music. I find his songs simple yet full of meanings and all of it relates to one's life, one's family and one's love. His success is worldwide. His music genre is country pop that's why the rythm of his songs were all roots from counrypolitan sound and in soft rock. Almost all of his songs somewhat narrates a story of a certain characters. Like his song "Lucille", it tells the story of an unfaithful wife and mother. The song "The Gambler" is a unique one which I also love. It tells the story of a late-night meeting on a train between Rogers as the narrator and an unnamed old man who is the gambler. The gambler tells Rogers that he can tell Rogers is down on his luck that is "out of aces" by the look in his eyes and offers him advice in exchange for the last swallow of whiskey Rogers has. After the gambler takes the drink and a cigarette, he gives the following advice:

Some part of the song
“ You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.
Know when to walk away, and know when to run. You never count your money, when you're sittin' at the table. There'll be time enough for countin', when the dealin's done.

The gambler then mentions that the "secret to survivin' is knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep" and that the best you can hope for is to "die in your sleep". At this point, the gambler puts out the cigarette and goes to sleep.

At the end of the song we are told that "somewhere in the darkness the gambler he broke even" (dies), and that the narrator finds "an ace that I could keep" in his final words.

I made some research about this song and it said "The song is often characterized as a metaphor for life in that you need to know when to stand your ground (when to hold 'em) and when to retreat (when to fold 'em). The gambler has learned that the trick to life isn't the cards you've been dealt, but how to play them (every hand being a "winner" or a "loser" depending on how they are played). The "ace" that Rogers refers to in the end is this advice."

Another songs of his which I also like were "She Believes In Me, You Decorated My Life, Through The Years, Lady , Island In The Stream (a duet with Dolly Parton), and a lot more.

I'm posting some of his songs here.

ASIN Band... The Salt Of the Earth

ASIN previously known as Salt Of the Earth in the late 70's, is a famous band in the Philippines who performs indigenous music. It was on 1983 when their vocalist had to live with different communities and muslims in Mindanao just to fully understand their way of living and express it beautifully in their songs. The vocalists in the band ASIN was a product from Mindanao and Visayas region of Philippines. It was on 1977 that they formed a group named "The Salt of Earth" , inspired from Bible verse Matthew 5:13. It was later in 1978 when they shortened their name to ASIN. "Asin" is a Visaya term used by people living in Mindanao and Visayas region. It simply refers to SALT in english. There are lots of reasons speculating why people in the Philippines love the songs of ASIN by heart. Some they said, the song is very easy to familiarize. Others said, the message in the songs are truly based on actual happenings in Mindanao. They also said, instruments are purely acoustics thus very easy to familiarize the chords. But the most beautiful part there is when people said "The songs of ASIN are the songs of our life".

Here's some of my ASIN's collection.

The Mystic Voice of Enya

Enya, an Ireland best solo musician who performs hauntingly memorable songs is one of my favorite artist too. I usually listened to Enya songs during afternoons and sometimes early in the morning. A number of Enya's songs are sung entirely in Irish Gaelin or Latin, with other containing the hithero-mentioned mixed with English or English by itself. Listening to Enya's music is like touching to one's soul giving free to all burdens and apprehension a person may have kept inside. Most often, Enya's songs were usually connected to the wonders of nature and the earth itself. Sometimes when I feel like i want to meditate, I listened to the melody of her songs and it allows me to relax and let go the feeling of resentments. Here are some of my collection of Enya's songs from her album A DAY WITHOUT RAIN. I like the Flora's Secret and Only Time song very much. Hope you will like it too.

Flora's secret Lyrics
By: Enya
Lovers in the long grass
look above them, only they can see
where the clouds are going,
only to discover dust and sunlight ever make the sky so blue.

Afternoon is hazy,river flowing,
all around the soundsmoving closer to them,
telling them the story told by flora,
dreams they never knew.

Silver willows,tears from Persia,
those who comefrom a far-off island,
Winter chanterelle liesunder cover,
Glory -of -the-sun in blue.

Some they know as passion,
some as freedom, some they know as love
and the way it leaves them,
Summer snowflakefor a season
when the sky above is blue,
when the sky above is blue.

Lying in the long grass close beside her
giving her the nameof the one the moon loves,
this will be the dayshe will remember
when she knew his heart was loving in the long grass
close beside her whispering of loveand the way it leaves them
lying the long grassin the sunlight,
they believe it’s true love, and from all around them
floras’secret telling them of love
and the way it breathes and
looking up from eyes of amaranthine they can see the sky is blue,
knowing that their love is true,
dreams they never knew,
and the sky above is blue.

Stay Subtle With Bossa Nova..

One of my favorite music genre nowadays is the Bossa Nova. Have you experienced having dinner with someone in a cozy restaurant while listening to some certain songs that brings elements of cool samba-jazz with Brazilian beat? Yes inded!! That's Bossa Nova. Too soothing to listen allowing one's mood to be relaxed. Most often, Bossa Nova spoke of love, life and beauty. That's why some Bossa Nova songs nowadays was just a revival from an old love songs which I love it better. And usualy, performers who revived such songs gets the public ears easily because for one, people is already familiar to it not to mention the wordings and the basic tune of the songs. What the performers did is just putting a samba-jazz flavor to it giving it a cool matrix. One of the famous Bossa Nova artist here in the Philippines is Isabel Ortega. She's a filipino artist with an enigmatic voice that is very captivating. I'm posting here some of her Bossa Nova songs and some can be downloaded. So keep visiting here for its availability.
